With a population of about half a million people, Atlanta is the largest city in the state of Georgia and is also the state capital. About half of the city's population is African American. The entire metropolitan area is home to over six million.

The city is home to the world headquarters of many large American companies including UPS, The Coca-Cola Company, Chick-fil-A, Delta Air Lines and The Home Depot.

Atlanta is the county seat of Fulton County, home to one of the largest concentrations of colleges and universities in the country. The city has more than 30 institutions of higher education including Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University and the historically black colleges Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College.
