Le Monde is a daily newspaper in Paris, France covering local news, sports, business, politics and community events.

Le Monde ("The World") is a leading French daily newspaper published in Paris and distributed both throughout France and worldwide. It employs 500 journalists in its Paris newsroom and generally maintains a moderate to center-left editorial view, describing itself as "a generalist and independent media." It is one of the four major French newspapers, along with Le Figaro, Liberation and Ouest-France.

The newspaper began publication in 1944. It was founded by journalist Hubert Beuve-Méry at the request of General Charles de Gaulle after the German army was driven from Paris.

In June 2010, the bankrupt newspaper sold a controlling stake to investors Xavier Niel, Matthieu Pigasse and the late Pierre Bergé. As of 2022, Le Monde employees own a minority of company shares while the majority is owned by Xavier Niel, Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky and Grupo Prisa, a Spanish company that publishes El País among others.

On April 7, 2022, Le Monde launched an English language version of its website with the aim "to offer a French and European vision of current events to the English-speaking world."

Le Monde Launches English Language Website
-- On April 7, 2022, French newspaper Le Monde launched an English language version of its website, previously available only in French. The paper aims "to offer a French and European vision of current events to the English-speaking world" and wants to grow from 425,000 paying readers to 1 million within the next few years. Google Starts Paying Le Monde, Five Other French Newspapers
-- The search king has signed copyright agreements providing for payments to six French newspapers, in a major step towards compensating the news media for using their content in its services.
