Radio France Internationale (RFI) is the international radio station funded by the French government, available in French and 13 other languages. It is part of France Médias Monde, the group responsible for French international broadcasting, which also operates France 24 and the Arabic-language radio station Monte Carlo Doualiya.
RFI was created in 1975 as part of Radio France by the government of France to serve as a broadcast vehicle for French Equatorial Africa. In 1986 RFI began operating independently of Radio France.
