In April 2014, the Rockmart Journal and sister paper, the Cedartown Standard, ceased publication. News and coverage of the communities of Cedartown, Rockmart, Aragon and Polk County will now be covered by the new Polk County Standard Journal newspaper which printed its first edition on May 7, 2014. With the new paper comes new staff. In April 2014, Kevin Myrick replaced Aimee Madden as editor of the new Polk County Standard Journal.
