WMAQ TV 5 is a TV station in Chicago, Illinois, USA airing NBC network programs, local news and weather.

The station is an affiliate of the NBC Television Network.

WMAQ TV 5 is the NBCUniversal owned-and-operated NBC network affiliate station in Chicago, Illinois. Promoted as NBC Chicago, it is the sister station of Telemundo affiliate WSNS TV 44.

WMAQ began broadcasting on October 8, 1948 as WNBQ TV, the third of the five original NBC owned-and-operated stations. Eight years later, it became the first station in the world to broadcast all of its programs in color. Though NBC had long owned WMAQ radio (now WSCR AM 670), it did not change the TV station's call letters to WMAQ TV until August 31, 1964.

The station created and produced a number of low-budget TV shows during the 1950s including "Garroway at Large" (a music and variety series), "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie" (an ad-libbed puppet show) and "Studs' Place" (a drama starring Chicago writer and actor Studs Terkel).

This TV station is owned by NBCUniversal.
