Fort Wayne is the county seat of Allen County and is the second largest city in Indiana after Indianapolis. Located in northeastern Indiana, the Fort Wayne metropolitan area includes Allen, Wells and Whitley counties.
The city is named for American Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne, who supervised the construction of a fort there in 1794.
