The Wayland Town Crier covers local news, events and life in Wayland and the surrounding communities of Middlesex County in eastern Massachusetts. The newspaper was published weekly in print until May 5, 2022, when it switched to digital-only distribution.

The Town Crier was part of the now-defunct News-Transcript Group based in Framingham, Massachusetts. The company published three daily newspapers and several weeklies before it was bought by Fidelity Investments in 1995. In 1996, it was merged into Community Newspaper Company (CNC), which through acquisitions became New England's largest weekly newspaper publisher.

In 2001, Fidelity sold CNC to Herald Media, the publisher of the Boston Herald. In 2006, CNC was purchased by GateHouse Media. On November 19, 2019, the paper became part of Gannett Company when the owner of GateHouse Media bought Gannett and merged the two companies under the Gannett name.
