KLKN TV 8 is a TV station in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA airing ABC network programs, local news and weather.
The station is an affiliate of the ABC Television Network.
KLKN TV 8 calls itself "ABC 8" and broadcasts across Lincoln and southeastern Nebraska. The station airs Grit TV, Escape TV and Laff TV on its digital subchannels.
KLKN began broadcasting on December 3, 1964 as KHQL TV, a member of the Nebraska Television Network (NTN, later known as NTV). In 1973 the call letters were changed to KCNA, standing for area towns Columbus, Norfolk, and Albion. The station was spun off from NTV in 1983 and become Nebraska's first independent station, KBGT TV. In 1987, the station was sold to Citadel Communications and became KCAN. In 1996, Citadel moved the license to Lincoln and changed the call letters to KLKN.
On May 16, 2019, Citadel sold KLKN and WLNE TV in Providence, Rhode Island to Standard Media Group for $83 million. On February 22, 2022, Cox Media Group announced its purchase of the station from Standard Media Group, a subsidiary of Standard General L.P.
