The Reno Gazette-Journal (RGJ) is the leading newspaper in northern Nevada. It covers news in the city of Reno and across Washoe County. The RGJ began with the founding of the Nevada State Journal in 1870. The Reno Evening Gazette began publication six years later.
In 1939, Spiedel Newspapers, Inc., a small company that owned newspapers in the western U.S., acquired the two newspapers. In 1977, Speidel Newspapers was acquired by Gannett Company which led to the construction of a new office building with modern printing facilities in 1981 at 955 Kuenzli Street, where the newspaper is still based. On October 7, 1983 the two newspapers merged to form the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Brian Duggan Named Editor of the Reno Gazette-Journal RGJ just keeps sinking lower and lower, no longer has any credibility..obvious liberal shill like most of the rest. Won't pay for this. Horrible liberal bias, cancelled subscription.
