WLW AM 700 in Cincinnati is a news and talk radio station and the flagship station of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. One of the oldest radio stations in the United States, it traces its roots to July 1921 when radio manufacturer Powel Crosley Jr. began 20-watt broadcast tests using the call sign 8CR. On March 22, 1922, Crosley and his Crosley Broadcasting Corporation began 50-watt broadcasts using the WLW call sign. In the 1960s, Crosley assumed the name of its parent company, Avco. From the mid-1970s until the 1990s, WLW changed ownership several times. One owner, Jacor, eventually merged with Clear Channel Communications, which was renamed iHeartMedia in 2014.

This station has lost me as a listener. Their programming with the exception of
a few slots is ridiculous; crazed Republicans and sexist men going on about their personal agendas. Their website is an embarrassment to the region; you'd think by looking at it that we were back in the 50s when women were still considered objects ("babes")not humans.
