The Press began publication in 1922 as a Finnish language newspaper. It was published by Hal and Edla Allen from 1962 to 1988, when they sold it to Gary Nevan. He operated it until January 2017, when he sold it to Clatsop County Media Services, a partnership owned by husband and wife team Cindy Yingst and D.B. Lewis. Yingst is a seasoned reporter and editor, having previously worked at The San Bernardino Sun, The Daily Astorian and The Olympian.
