The Sherman Herald Democrat covers local news, events and life in the city of Sherman and across Grayson County in northeast Texas. It began publication in 1996 when the Denison Herald and the Sherman Democrat merged.
On March 5, 2022, CherryRoad Media bought the Herald Democrat and 15 other newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma from Gannett Company. CherryRoad Media is a division of CherryRoad Technologies, a company based in Parsippany, New Jersey that began buying newspapers in November 2020 and now publishes over 40 newspapers in 10 states.

Gannett Sells More Small Newspapers to CherryRoad Media
-- Gannett, the leading owner of American newspapers, has sold 16 papers in Texas and Oklahoma to CherryRoad Media, a division of New Jersey IT company CherryRoad Technologies. This is the second major transaction between the two companies -- in October 2021 CherryRoad bought 20 of Gannett's midwestern papers.
