Founded in 1989, the Alvarado Post ceased publication in March 2012. It covered eastern Johnson County. The independent operations of the publication's newsroom were shut down in March 2007 and it was operated from the newsroom of the Waxahachie Daily Light.
The newspaper was published weekly on Thursday and when it shut down had a circulation of 601.
