The Runnels County Ledger covers local news, events and people in the town of Ballinger and the surrounding communities of Runnels County in central Texas. The newspaper was known as the Ballinger Ledger until Janaury 2017, when the Ballinger Ledger absorbed the Winters Express.
The Ballinger Ledger traced its roots to the founding of the Banner-Leader and the Runnels County Ledger (1890). The newspapers merged as the Banner Ledger in 1913. The name was changed to the Ballinger Ledger in 1933.
On March 5, 2022, CherryRoad Media bought the Ledger and 15 other newspapers in Texas and Oklahoma from Gannett Company. CherryRoad Media is a division of CherryRoad Technologies a company based in Parsippany, New Jersey that began buying newspapers in November 2020 and now publishes over 40 newspapers in 10 states.
