The Palm Beach Daily News is affectionately known as "The Shiny Sheet" because it is printed on heavy, glossy paper. It is published daily from October to May and twice weekly during the summer.
The newspaper was established in 1897. In May 2018, Cox Enterprises sold the Daily News and The Palm Beach Post to GateHouse Media for $49.25 million. On November 19, 2019, the paper became part of Gannett Company when the owner of GateHouse Media bought Gannett and merged it with GateHouse under the Gannett name.
