On January 6, 2021, Wyndham Destinations said it has acquired the Travel + Leisure business from Meredith Corporation. Wyndham is a vacation timeshare company that describes itself as "the world's leading membership and leisure travel company." With the deal completed, Wyndham changed its name to Travel + Leisure Co. Meredith will continue to publish Travel + Leisure based on a 30-year royalty-free, renewable licensing agreement.
The magazine was launched in 1971. In October 2013, Time Inc. bought the magazine from American Express Publishing Corporation. Meredith Corporation became its owner in January, 2018 when it bought Time Inc.
