TMZ

TMZ is a USA website covering People and Gossip.

TMZ is a celebrity gossip website covering the hijinks, humiliations and horror stories of stars like Justin Bieber, Flavor Flav, Britney Spears and many others. TMZ stands for "Thirty Mile Zone," a movie industry term that originated in the 1960s to monitor rules for filming in and around Hollywood.

The website started in 2005 as a joint venture of AOL and Telepictures Productions, both divisions of now-defunct Time Warner Inc. TMZ founder and managing editor Harvey Levin got his start as a legal commentator on KCBS TV 2 in Los Angeles.

In June 2018, AT&T Corporation acquired Time Warner and TMZ became part of AT&T's Warner Media subsidiary. On September 13, 2021, Fox Corporation bought TMZ from Warner Media for a price thought to be under $50 million (see story under 'News' below).

This website is owned by Fox Corporation.
