-- According to Affinity's American Magazine Study (AMS), released August 8, 2011, more than 81 million consumers are regular visitors of magazine web sites, with more than 33 million accessing magazine content and advertising through mobile devices like smartphones, e-readers and tablet PCs.
The most trusted digital magazine brand, according to the AMS, is WebMD the Magazine, with The Economist, Guideposts, Smithsonian and the Harvard Business Review, in that order, rounding out the top five.
Affinity's semi-annual AMS Digital Magazine Scorecard ranked more than 170 digital magazine brands for a variety of attributes.
Maxim earned top honors for Most Entertaining; Cooking Light for Most Useful; Dwell for Most Innovative; The Atlantic for Most Topical; and, Playboy for...Most Enjoyable.
Before any claims, perhaps justified, of objectification, exploitation and the like start flying, it should be duly noted, for the sake of context, that the men's magazine with the infamous centerfold competed in its category with the likes of Game Informer (third place) and, yes, Cooking with Paula Deen (fifth place).
'To each his or her own' evidently still applies, among American magazine readers, at least.
